The GNUist Party
Deus ex Machina
What is the GNUist Party?
It the majority political party of the UPGR,comprising 69% of
the seats in the National Assembly. It was organized in early 2000 by a
group of anyonomus Linux longhairs who wanted to apply the concepts and
beliefs of Open Source to the macroenviroment of an entire nation. They
first made an attempt in 2000 by running a Beowulf Cluster named THOR for
the office of US President.
They were promptly humiliated by the heckiling of the press. The GNUist
party sank into hiding while it seemed that Republican George W. Bush would
prevail victorious as President. This was not to be.
On April 1,2000,an Army of GNUist Penguins, led by Linux mascot Tux
Penguin, overran the defenses surrounding Washington DC.Within hours the
White House,Capitol,Supreem Court, and aproximately 78% of the United States.
With no possible alternative but nuclear war,President Bill Clinton steped
down as President and asked that Congress hand over control to the GNUist
Penguins.Congress did so on April 2,2000.Shortly afterwards the Red Penguinitic
Army had swept down on all corperations that had oppressed geeks and expelled
their leaders. The MPAA and RIAA were broken up under orders from the Government
of the newly formed UPGR,which had declaired that the groups held "monopolistic
power" over radio broadcasters and motion picture studios.
Today, the membership of the GNUist Party includes aprox. 167,000,000
million members,59% of these living within the UPGR,with the other 41%
comming from GNUist Partys overseas.
What do you stand for?
"As the nominee for the GNUist Party...stands for a Bazaar-style
economy, no Internet taxation, strong anti-trust laws, copyright law reform,
and an elimination of oppressive anti-geek laws."
-Humorix, March 29,2000
Our motives have of course changed since then. Most of our reforms were
pushed through when the UPGR was formed. As a result,we have made new goals
for our group.
-
Exapanding the idea of geek revolution around the world. It is the future
goal of the GNUist Party to one day see the people of the globe working
together as one,as a result transforming Earth into a giant bazaar where
ideas are peddeled like food and cloth was centuries ago.
-
The expansion of humanity to other worlds. Earth is becoming crowded. It
is dirty from the mistakes and foolishness of the past. With knowledge garnered
from our failures we shall colonize other worlds, ensuring that future generations
will not face problems that we face today on Earth.
The International Guarantee from all Nations of the Basic Freedoms
established in the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

NEW!Great GNUist Battle #0:Linux - The Best Windows Upgrade
Linux has been shown to be equal to and/or supperior to Microsoft's
workstation offering,Windows NT(stands for Not Trusted) and
Win2K(the real millenium bug...almost showed some promise...if only it
had arrived earlier. And had fewer than 64,000 bugs.).However,most uninformed
comrades out there are not aware of this.We must show them there is an
alternative out there by tricking them into creating a Linux/Windows dual-boot
setup. Here is our plan:We send out emails telling saying "Visit this site
to learn how to improve Windows performance." MAKE NO MENTION OF LINUX
IN THE MESSAGE,the purpose of this project must remain ambiguous(see,I
can steal Microsoft's ideas as good as they can steal others' ideas!)so
as not to arouse the FUD imbedded in their brains.Put a link in your document
pointing here
Please report in on how well this has worked at your school/office/club/favorite
government agency to annoy...oops,how'd that get in there? :P )Hope to
hear from you'se soon comrades!(hey,my Philadelphia accent is still there!Yeah!)
Members of the GNUist Party(We really have members!)
Member #0 - Matthew K. Adair
Reason for Joining: Because I founded our party in the name of GNUism! |
Member #1 - Colin McNally
Reason for Joining: I hate when stuff breaks and I can't get at it
to fix it. |
Member #2 - Vladimir Tauberman
Reason for Joining: After seeing that the big corps. (IBM, M$, Adobe)
are terrible at controlling the "have-not" masses (e.g.: M$ untitrust suits)
I have come to a realization that there must be a higher Power out there
in the tech world, the one that will insure the unity of mankind in the
(posibly) near future and since communism is unavailable I wish to join
the GNUist Party :) |
Member #3 - Sven Opitz
Reason for Joining: I want to join, because after you once debugged a program you use to bugfix it, you want to have this freedom in all software. And as a programmer you are always the "bad guy", if your thinking isn't profit-oriented |
Member #4 - John Ward
Reason for joining: 1) Windows and Micro$oft $uck.
2) I want to promote the use of a superior OS and to promote the Open Source movement!
Stupid reasons? I really don't care. |
